The establishment of Indian Institute of Science, widely known as IISc, took place in the academic year of 1909. The institute is located in Bangalore. It has been given the status of Deemed University is the year 1958. The institute has been recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and accredited with grade ‘A+' by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). One of the major key points of Indian Institute of Science is that it is the member of The Association of Commonwealth Universities and Association of Indian Universities. The infrastructure of the institute is spread over an area of 434 acres providing all the basic amenities inside of the campus. The architecture of the academic building is conventional as the institute was established back in 1909. The classical style of the campus differentiates it from the other universities. The main centers of the institute include Biological Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Interdisciplinary Research, Mechanical Sciences, Physical & Mathematical Sciences, Electrical, Electronics, and Computer Science, thus providing students with a massive number of options to choose from. These divisions are further divided into various disciplinaries. Besides, the institute houses 34 departments, 6 Cafeterias, a gymkhana, 4 dining halls, boys' and girl's hostels, 2 shopping centers and a football and cricket playground.

Indian Institute of Science offers programs at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. It also offers a program at the Doctorate level. The programs are offered under several specializations. Indian Institute of Science Courses include B. Sc (Research) at the undergraduate level and M. Tech, M. Des., and M. Mgmt. at the postgraduate level. At the Doctorate level, Ph.D. and M. Tech (Research) programs are offered. The admission procedure of the courses varies from one another. For admission, the candidates must ensure that they fulfill the minimum eligibility criteria defined by the university. • Admission to M. Mgmt. is based on GATE/CAT/GMAT scores obtained by the candidates followed by group discussion and personal interview round.
