Banaras Hindu University Details
Banaras Hindu University (BHU) was founded by Madan Mohan Malviya in the year 1916 by the name Kashi Hindu Vishvidyalaya. Madan Mohan Malviya was a freedom fighter and a visionary who wanted to bring the social and educational reform in India. To execute his vision, he had chosen the city of Banaras which is presently known as Varanasi. Madan Mohan Malviya was awarded the highest civilian award ’Bharat Ratna’ posthumous.

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT-BHU):
Indian Institute of Technology (IIT-BHU), Varanasi commonly called as IIT-BHU was earlier known as Banaras Engineering College and was operated by the authorities of the Banaras Hindu Univesity, Later in the year 2012, the institution was designated as Indian Institute of Technology by the Government of India. It offers Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) and Master of Technology (M.Tech) courses to the students.
Banaras Hindu University Admissions:
The admissions to the BHU for Undergraduate courses, Postgraduate courses and Doctoral courses are made through Undergraduate Entrance Test (UET), Postgraduate Entrance Test (PET) and Research Entrance Test (RET) respectively. The BHU conducts all the three tests.
The admissions to the IIT-BHU is made on the basis of the JEE Advanced Score. The exam is carried out by the CBSE, and on the basis of merit based on the scores, the preferred branch is allocated to the candidate.

Facts about the Banaras Hindu University:
Once the well-known scientist Albert Einstein desired to serve in the BHU and wrote a letter to Madan Mohan Malviya for the same.
There is the famous temple of Lord Shiva called Vishwanath Temple inside the campus of BHU. The Temple is crowded with the people and is known for tourism and spirituality.
There is a museum inside the campus called Bharat Kala Bhavan, which has artefacts that are unique and hard to find anywhere else. Some artefacts are from the Indus Valley Civilization.
BHU has a cyber library.
