It is expected that the outcome of the hearing would decide the way forward, which may include the rectification of the results and a revised timeline for counselling. This decision will impact thousands of students awaiting clarity on their law school admissions.
This controversy is based on a petition filed by a 17-year-old CLAT aspirant named Aditya Singh, challenging the accuracy of the final answer key released on December 7, 2024. According to Singh, mistakes in the key had adversely impacted his scores and were a potential threat to admission into some of the country's top law schools.
On December 24, 2024, the court upheld the earlier order requiring the Consortium of National Law Universities to rectify these mistakes and publish corrected results. In fact, the Consortium has moved an appeal to the Supreme Court seeking relief from revising the results, and up to date, counseling for CLAT 2025 has further been delayed. The updated counseling schedule is presently kept on hold as the result is waiting upon the court decision for the present case.
