JEE Main Preparation Tips

JEE Main is one of the most important and tough engineering entrance examinations conducted across the country. Those who wish to study engineering at one of the NITs or IIITs must pass the Joint Entrance Examination (Main) 2023. Every year, almost 10 lakh candidates appear in the JEE Exam in order to be eligible for admission to the IIITs, NITs, and the other prominent engineering institutes. The exam is the most challenging exam and hence, it requires a proper preparation strategy in order to be cracked. Students can follow the below mentioned JEE Main Preparation Tips to score well in the examination:

Understand JEE Main Syllabus and JEE Main Pattern

  • It is crucial to know and understand what students need to study. The syllabus of JEE Main Exam  is vast and consists of class 11 and 12 topics from three subjects i.e Mathematics, Chemistry, and Physics. Besides, they must be well aware of the examination pattern of the exam before they start the preparation. This will help them understand the type of questions asked in the exam and how much time they should spend on which type of questions.

NCERT Books are the Best

  • NCERT textbooks serve as the foundation for the JEE Main curriculum. JEE aspirants must study the NCERT textbook in order to build a solid foundation of ideas and theories. They may also consult other books to better understand the concepts.

JEE Main Previous Year Question Papers

  • The papers from the previous year are a great source of information. They will assist students in comprehending the exam difficulty level and the JEE Main Exam subject-wise weightage of topics.

A Well-Planned Timetable

  • Studying according to a timetable can assist in covering the syllabus in a systematic manner. It is strongly advised that students plan a JEE Main preparation schedule that includes at least two to three hours for each of the three subjects and one hour for revision.

Regularity

  • Since the JEE Main Syllabus is extensive, all chapters will only be covered if studied on a daily basis. The importance of consistency in passing the JEE Main 2023 cannot be overstated.

Best JEE Main Books

  • JEE aspirants must consult the best reference books that cover topics ranging from the fundamentals to the advanced level.

Revision

  • Revision is just as important as studying a subject. If students do not revise what they study, it is possible that they will not be able to recall it during examinations.

JEE Main Mock Test Paper

  • Solve JEE Main mock test papers on a regular basis. It is recommended that students complete chapter-by-chapter mock papers and full-length mock test papers after completing the entire syllabus.

JEE Main Chapter Wise Weightage

Each section of the JEE Main Question Paper is worth 33.33%. However, some chapters in JEE Main Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics are weighted more heavily than others. Candidates can learn about the topics and sub-topics that have a higher weightage in the exam by using the JEE Main Chapter-wise Weightage. The section below covers the previous year's JEE Main Chapter-wise Weightage for Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry (2022). The total number of questions asked across multiple exam sessions is represented by the number of questions mentioned in each chapter-wise weightage analysis.

JEE Main Cutoff 2023

JEE Main Cutoff has been divided into the JEE Main Qualifying Cutoff and the admission Cutoff. JEE Qualifying Cutoff is the minimum score that candidates must score in order to sit for the JEE Advanced 2023. JEE Admission Cutoff is the minimum rank required for admission to the NITS, IIITs, and GFTIs. There are various factors that define the cutoff of JEE Main Exam. These factors include the difficulty level of the exam, number of students who took the exam, candidates' category, cutoff trend over the past years and the number of students applying for a particular program.

JEE Main Qualifying Cutoff

JEE Main 2023 Cutoff will be released after the announcement of the final results of the examination. Meanwhile, the candidates can check the previous years' JEE Main Cutoff for all the categories. JEE Main cutoff for the general category students has increased over the past 2 years while the cutoff for all the other reserved categories has seen a drop in the trend.

JEE Main Admission Cutoff

JEE Main Admission Cutoff is defined as the minimum rank required by candidates for admission to B. Tech/ B. Arch/ B. Planning programs in the JEE Main Participating Colleges. Candidates can also refer to the JEE Mains Marks vs Percentile in order to check the relation between these two. JEE Main cutoff is made available in the form of opening and closing ranks which is released after every round of JoSAA Counselling. By taking a look at the previous year JEE Main Cutoff stats, candidates can get an idea of what they can expect from the JEE Main 2023 Admission Cutoff.

JEE Main 2023 Marks vs Percentile

JEE Main Percentage is the marks obtained by candidates in the exam while JEE Percentile is the rank of a candidates amongst the other students appeared in the exam.

  • In case a student has 90 percentile, it would mean that there are 10 percent of students above him/her who have secured marks higher than him/her.

Below mentioned is the expected JEE Main Marks vs Percentile range estimation for the JEE Main 2023 Session:

JEE Main Counselling 2023

The counselling process for admission to the IITs, NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs is organized by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) Counselling. If candidates appearing in JEE Main 2023 obtain any score must register themselves for the JoSAA Counselling for admission to the NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs. Candidates who appear and qualify in the JEE Advanced Exam will also be required to register for the JoSAA 2023 Counselling for admission to the IIITs. The process of registering for the counselling must be done online and the allotment of seats is done based on the All India Rank of candidates.

JEE Main Participating Institutes

The participating institutes of JEE Main Exam are the college that offer admission to students based on the JoSAA Counselling. The admission is done into Engineering, Architecture, and Planning programs offered by these JEE Main Accepting Colleges. Besides, JEE Main Participating Institutes, there are many colleges that offer admission based on the marks obtained by candidates in the exam and not a party of JoSAA Counselling.

There are total 31 NITs, 25 IIITs, and 19 GFTIs that participate in the JoSAA Counselling. The number of seats in these institutes changes every year. The other institutes which offer admission based on the JEE Main Scores are from the states which do not conduct their own entrance examination for admission to their engineering programs.
