IIT Kanpur has released GATE Exam Date 2023 and the exam is scheduled to be conducted on 4, 5, 11, and 12 February 2023. The registration date of the exam haven't been released yet and we can expect IIT Kanpur to release the GATE Registration Dates very soon as the exam dates are out. The application window of the exam is likely to open in the first week of September 2022. 

IIT Kanpur will conduct GATE 2023 and the official notifications related to the GATE Exam 2023 will be released soon on the official website. Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an all India Examination for admission to various post graduate engineering courses. GATE Exam is conducted in conjunction by IITs such as IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras, IIT Roorkee along with Indian Institute for Science, Bangalore (IISC Bangalore). These authorities conduct GATE Exam on a rotational basis and on behalf of the NCB i.e. the National Coordination Board, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource & Development (MHRD), Government of India.

Qualifying GATE Exam would get students admissions to M. Tech, M. E. and Ph. Besides admission to M. Tech, M. E., and Ph. D., there are various PSUs that consider GATE Score to recruit eligible candidates. These PSUs include DRDO, IOCL, ONGC, NTPC, BHEL, etc.

GATE Registration Procedure

Registration

  • First of the several other steps to register for the exam is REGISTRATION. Interested candidates must visit the official website of gate and complete the registration procedure by entering their Name, Email id, and Mobile Number. Once these details are submitted, an enrollment id is generated and sent to candidates' registered email id. Candidates, if they wish to, can change their password for the future login procedure.

Filling of the Application Form

  • The next step is to fill GATE Application Form that appears right after the registration procedure is completed. Candidates will be required to provide their personal, academic, and educational details. They must also choose the examination center as per their preference and convenience.
  • Besides, candidates must also ensure that the details filled in by them are correct as any incorrect detail may lead to cancelation of their candidature.

Uploading of Documents

  • While filling GATE Application Form, candidates will also be required upload the scanned copy of their passport sized photograph and signature. They must ensure that the documents are uploaded as per the specification defined by the examination conducting authority.

Payment of Application Fee

  • Candidates must also process the payment of GATE Application Fee while filling the GATE Application Form. The payment must be made through any of the online payment modes such as net banking/debit card/credit card.

Submission of Application Form

  • After completing all the above-mentioned steps, candidates can finally submit their duly filled application form by clicking on “Submit” and save the application form.

GATE Exam Eligibility

GATE Exam Eligibility for this year is that the candidate must possess a B. Tech/B. E degree (4 years after 10+2 and 3 years after diploma courses) from any recognized university. Final year students can also apply for this exam. It is to be noted that there is no age limit to apply for GATE Exam. Similarly, for M. Arch, the candidate must possess a bachelor's degree in Architecture or candidates in final year can also apply.

GATE Scorecard is also accepted by several PSUs for recruiting candidates for various job vacancies.

Application fee of GATE Exam is non-refundable and non-transferable, for female candidates the application fee is Rs.750, for SC/ST/PWD candidates the application fee is Rs.750 and for other candidates, the fees are Rs.1500.

There are 24 different types of question papers and candidates appear as per opted disciple in GATE Exam Pattern. In the papers, the common aspect is that there will be 65 questions carrying 100 marks, out of which 10 questions will be General Aptitude (GA) questions, compulsory for all candidates irrespective of the subject they have opted for. The GA questions carry 15 marks. For the rest 55 questions, there will be two different types of questions in MCQ and Numerical Answer Questions format.

It is clearly indicated that the candidate can only use a Virtual calculator in the exam hence the features of the virtual calculator and its salient features are mentioned below:

Salient Features of GATE Virtual Calculator:

  • There are numeric keys for input the digits and operators for carrying out operations on the right side of the calculator.
  • The left-hand side of the virtual calculator has scientific functions and operations are available. With the help of a mouse, the candidates can easily perform any calculation.
  • The hyperbolic functions and trigonometric functions like sin, cos, and tan are grouped together and their inverse is provided just below them.
  • There are two boxes in at the top of the virtual calculator. In the topmost box of the calculator, all the operations are performed while the second box of the calculator shows the result.
  • It is not used for solving cubic, simultaneous and quadratic equations.
  • Authority will not allow the use of a physical calculator in the examination hall.
  • All the calculations with a virtual calculator will be done through mouse; no use of the keyboard is required.
