Staff Selection Commission (SSC) usually holds a Combined Higher Level Secondary Level Exam every year for recruitment across Ministries/Departments of the Indian Government. The Staff Selection Commission conducts the exam for employment in the following posts:
- Postal Assistants
- Sorting Assistants
- Lower Divisional Clerk
- Court Clerk
About 30 Lakh candidates appear for the SSC CHSL every year out of which at least 2 Lakh is hired by the Central Government. The SSC CHSL exam every year is scheduled in the months of March (Tier 1) and June (Tier 2) exam. The exam is held in 3 stages - The first one is online based while the subsequent two are offline based. It is always important to take note of important changes in terms of the SSC CHSL Exam Pattern and SSC CHSL Exam Syllabus as that is the defining factor for one's success in the examination.
The SSC CHSL Tier 1 exam would be consisting of the following sections - General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, and English Comprehension. Giving the wrong answer in the exam would result in a negative marking of 0.5. The Tier 2 exam would be consisting of a Written Test which would have a section on essay and letter writing.
The Tier 3 exam is a set of skill tests that are conducted for certain government posts. There are Skill Tests conducted for Data Entry Operators, Sorting Assistants and Court Clerks.
In order to fulfill the SSC CHSL Eligibility Criteria, the candidate must be a citizen of India. He should be in the age limit of 18-27 as on 1st January 2019 and should have qualified 12th Grade or equivalent from a recognized Board/University.
The SSC CHSL Application Procedure for the next session would begin in November or December. The Application Fee that is required to be paid INR 100 and is exempted for Female candidates/SC/ST/Physically Handicapped/Ex-Servicemen Candidates.
The SSC CHSL Cutoff is a compulsory score that needs to be scored by a candidate to get selected further. Among the reserved categories, the cutoff marks for the General candidates are higher than the other categories like SC, ST, OPH and OBC.
The SSC CHSL Result would be uploaded on the website in the PDF Format wherein the candidates would be required to search for their name and roll number. Once the Tier-3 exam is done, the results shall be published. After the declaration of final posts, the candidates shall be appointed.
The SSC CHSL Answer Key is released by the Staff Selection Commission within 10-15 days of completion of the exam. The examinees can make use of the same to calculate their marks and ranks in the exam.
In case of a tie in percentile scores, the following would be applied:
- Marks scored in a written exam
- Seniority in Age
- Alphabetical order in the names of the candidates
