NEET Counseling Procedure is as detailed below:

Registration Procedure:
The candidates should register by logging in to the website. Without doing registration, candidates would not be able to indicate their choices for colleges and courses. On completion of the registration procedure, a unique user ID and password shall be generated that would be sent to the registered Email ID of the candidate and the mobile number. The candidate shall be able to proceed further after this. -
Submission of Choice:
Candidates would have to fill their choices regarding course and college as per their preferences. After this candidate shall click on Save Button to lock their filled choices. Without saving the filled choices, the choices shall not be considered as locked choices. Candidates are hence advised not to forget to lock and submit their preferences. -
Modification and Locking:
The candidates who are not satisfied with the allotted seats can modify their choices. Candidates can log in with their official credentials and modify their choices. -
Reporting to Allotted Colleges:
When the seat gets allotted to candidates, they would be required to report to the allotted college for seat confirmation. Candidates would be required to pay an initial fee and should complete the admission formalities. In case candidates reach allotted colleges after the given time period, the seat would automatically be transferred to the next candidate. -
Second Round of Counseling:
If any candidate is not satisfied with the allotted seats, they can proceed for the next round of counseling. Candidates who are allotted seats in the second round of counseling of 15% All India Quota would not be allowed to vacate the seat.

Counseling for seats under 15% All India Quota:
Online counseling would be conducted by the Directorate General of Health Services. Information for online counseling would only be available on Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) website (www.mcc.nic.in). Candidates placed in Merit/ Wait List are advised to read the counseling-related information carefully and understand the course of action to be taken by them for appearing in the Counselling. Counseling and admission in participating State Medical Colleges/Universities/Institutions:
Candidates wishing to apply for admission in participating State medical colleges/Universities/Institutions using merit list of NEET shall follow the instructions of the authorities of the medical college/Institution/University concerned for counseling. Candidates are also advised to contact the authorities of State/Institution/University and remain in touch with their websites.
Counseling for Delhi University under 85% Seat quota:
In order to be considered for 85% Delhi University Quota, eligible candidates are required to appear in the NEET and also apply to the Faculty of Medical Sciences, the University of Delhi on the application form available from the Faculty of the Medical Sciences University of Delhi.
There have been attempts to centralize counseling of NEET in 2023
. According to the authorities, centralizing the counseling session would save a lot of time and money of all the applicants of all applicants as the entire procedure would be done at a single place at a specified time.
Some of the highlights of NEET 2023 Counselling:
- Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh filed petitions to make counseling a centralized initiative in order to make the application procedure even more easier.
- The Supreme Court of India had ordered Madhya Pradesh to have combined counseling. The admissions that had been undertaken earlier were canceled and fresh counseling was done to ensure admission of applicants.
- The State of Punjab conducted centralized counseling excepting 3 colleges.
- Old admissions were to be retained in the State of Maharashtra and new admissions were to be done through centralized counseling.
- Madhya Pradesh was asked to give preference to domicile applicants by the Supreme Court of India.
