The Indian Institute of Foreign Trade conducts IIFT entrance examination to shortlist candidates for admission into a two year full time course titled MBA in International Business in two campuses - IIFT Delhi and IIFT Kolkata. The selection of the candidates into these campuses is made on the basis of a Written Ability Test, Group Discussion and Personal Interview. The paper pattern gives the aspirant a view as to what are the sections that would be questioned and the exhaustive checklist of topics from which questions would be posted. 

The IIFT Question paper would be objective based having about 125 Multiple Choice Questions and the question paper would be divided across the following sections:

  1. Quantitative Ability
  2. Data Interpretation
  3. Logical Reasoning
  4. Reading Comprehension
  5. Verbal Ability
  6. General Awareness

Every section would be having a marking scheme. 

Negative marking to the extent of 1/3 marks for every wrong answer given would be deducted. About 125 Multiple Choice Questions can be expected in the examination. The characteristics of IIFT Exam Pattern are as follows:

  1. IIFT Exam would be held offline in 1st week of december, 2022.
  2. Questions would be divided across sections mentioned above.
  3. The exam would be for a total duration of 2 hours and would be conducted across 20 cities in India.
  4. IIFT Marking Scheme varies year on year and is differently set for every question.
  5. The IIFT Exam would be set for a total of 100 marks and negative marking of 1/3 would be given in case an incorrect response is given.

IIFT in the previous year had about 123 questions. Most of the questions were from Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning and the rest were from Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning.

Quantitative Ability

  1. The questions from this section usually vary from being easy to tough.
  2. This is known to be one of the trickiest and sections that consume a lot of time.
  3. A candidate cannot spend more than 10 seconds on a single question.
  4. The section would be consisting of a total of 20 questions for 20 marks.

Verbal Ability

  1. This section would be testing the candidate's hold in English Grammar and Usage.
  2. The section would consist of questions on Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension.
  3. About 36 questions would be posed from this section.
  4. The section would be carrying a total of 31 marks with about 36 questions.

Logical Reasoning

  1. A candidate's ability to solve challenging problems is tested in this section.
  2. The questions are mostly on Verbal Logic and Decision Making.
  3. About 42 questions would be asked from this section.
  4. This section would be carrying a total of 36.5 marks.
  5. Every incorrect answer would be getting 1/3 marks cut for the student.

General Awareness

  1. candidates for this section are expected to stay updated on the latest happenings in and around the world.
  2. The candidates are required to be well aware of political, economic and sports situations in the country as well as abroad.
  3. About 25 questions would be posed for a total of 12.5 marks
  4. A negative marking of 1/3 is induced for every incorrect answer given.
