The IES Exam Paper can be split into three major stages. The first stage is IES Preliminary Exam, the Second stage is IES Mains Exam and the Third stage is Personality Test/Personal Interview. IES Aspirants need to clear all the three stage to become an IES.
Preliminary Exam - Based on the subjects, IES Pre Exam again divided into 2 Papers, Paper I and Paper II.
- Paper I contains objective type questions from the subjects General Studies & Engineering Aptitude of total 200 Marks. The duration to solve the paper is 2 Hours.
- Paper II is also an objective Type paper. The paper contains questions basically from Engineering Discipline of 300 Marks and the total duration to solve the Paper is 3 Hours.
Mains Exam - The IES Mains Exam also consists of Two Papers, Paper I & Paper II:
- Paper I is a conventional Type exam of Total 300 Marks. All the questions are from the main engineering subjects in which the applicant applied. The duration to solve the exam is 3 Hours.
- Paper II is also a conventional Type exam of Total 300 Marks. All the questions are from the main engineering subjects in which the applicant applied. The time duration to write the Paper II is 3 Hours.
Personality Test - The Final stage is Personality Test.
