Once the CMAT examination would be conducted on January 24, 2018, the result is slated to be announced on February 14, 2018. The CMAT Selection procedure would be commencing in the months of February and March. The CMAT contains the following sections: Language, Quantitative Techniques, Data Interpretation and General Awareness. The final merit list would be communicated to the candidates on the email address or the website of the entrance examination.
- The first phase of the selection procedure includes the CMAT exam which is conducted in a window of 5 days in 2 slots each day.
- The test is of 3 hours duration and consists of 4 sections, Quantitative Techniques & Data Interpretation, Logical Reasoning, Language Comprehension and General Awareness. The total number of questions to be answered is 100 and the total marks are 400.
- Each section has 25 questions. The marking scheme of the exam is +4 for each correct answer and -1 for each wrong answer.
- After the result is declared, the participating institutes will declare the shortlist of candidates on the basis of the cutoffs for the next round of CMAT 2017 Selection Procedure. This second step depends from B-School to B-School.

- Generally, the candidates will have to participate in Group Discussion, Personal Interview and or Written Ability Test rounds.
- The B-schools will declare their final admission or selection list on the basis of the performance in CMAT, GD, PI, WAT and other factors decided by the B-schools.It involves the following steps: CMAT 2017 Score, Group Discussion, Personal Interview and Written Test
The candidates would be divided into groups of 10 or so, they would be given a topic related to current affairs or business affairs. The time duration for GD might be anything from five to ten minutes. Marks are awarded on the basis of initiation, negotiation, managerial and encouragement.
For the interview, a person who is confident, innovative and has a creative bent of mind is searched for. In addition to this interview, some institutes might also conduct a written test. Reading the newspapers and updating oneself about the current events is essential in order to get through such interviews.
- The candidates who have made through all the three rounds would be given a call letter or intimated by alternative online means.
The CMAT Selection procedure differs in comparison to different institutes. The Candidates would be required to participate in Group Discussion, Written Ability Test and Personal Interview. The Business Schools would be declaring their final selection list on the basis of the performance of the candidates in CMAT Group Discussion, Personal Interview and Written Ability Test.

Every candidate giving a correct answer in the CMAT Examination would be awarded 4 marks while any candidate giving an incorrect answer would have 1 mark deducted. The CMAT selection procedure consists of the following steps which have been explained in detail:
- Group Discussion - Candidates who get selected in the CMAT merit list of all participating institutes would be called for Group Discussion.
