Based on the result of AIIMS exam, the merit list will be prepared according to the Percentile Scores. The Counseling for allocation of all thirteen AIIMS for admission to MBBS would be held at AIIMS, New Delhi. Details of the schedule shall be intimated in the counseling letters that would be uploaded on the official website after the declaration of AIIMS Result. In every category, the number of candidates who would be called for counseling would be 4 times the number of seats available in every category.
All the reserved category candidates who qualify in the General Merit List would attend the counseling for the Open category Seats. If the candidate does not take a seat /is not present/ refuses to take a seat, then that candidate would not be allowed for counseling for seats in those categories.
Counselling Procedure is explained as below:
- The seats required to be filled by open (UR) competition would be filled initially, the candidates would be called on the basis of merit irrespective of wherever they belong.
- Reservation categories like SC/ST/OBC would be filled in the categories marked for them. If a candidate belonging to a reserved category walks out of the procedure, another candidate from the same category would be filling up the vacancy in the order of merit.
All the reserved candidates who qualify in General Merit List shall attend the counseling for the open category seats and exercise their options. If they opt for any other institution in the reserved category, they would attend counseling meant only for that reserved category.
These conditions need to be taken care of :
- If that person is not present, fails to take a seat in the open category, he/she shall not be allowed to attend counseling in the open category.
- He/She cannot opt for an institution under reservation if they had opted the same institution in an open category.
In the Counseling Procedure, the seats to be filled by (UR) Competition would be filled initially after which candidates would be called for counseling by merit alone until the last unreserved seat is filled, whether they belong to the unreserved/reserved categories.
The Counselling would start for the Reserved Category only once the Open Category is done.
If a meritorious student in the reserved category gets an admission in the open category, and subsequently he exercises an option to accept a seat under the reserved category in any other institute, the vacant seat would be filled by a candidate belonging to the same category in the order of merit.
For seat allocation, candidates would have to be present in person. Candidates would be exercising their choice of Institute during the counseling procedure as per their rank. Once the choice made, it would stand finally.
Any candidate selected for other AIIMS Campuses in Bhopal, Jodhpur and Patna would be guided by the Help Desk Counter at the venue of Counseling.
In the course of the Open Selection if any ST seat remains vacant (after all the eligible ST candidates are called) the vacant seats would be transferred to the SC Category. Any SC/ST seats left would also be made available to the General category. Similar in the case of OBC as mentioned above.
Merit of candidates in case of a tie in percentile scores would be resolved as below:
- Candidates securing higher in Biology
- Candidates securing higher in Chemistry
- Candidates securing higher in Physics
- Candidates older in age
