SGSITS was established in the academic year of 1952 as a public institution. The college has been affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi Prodyogiki Vishwavidhyala (University of Technology of Madhya Pradesh). The college offers programs at the undergraduate and postgraduate level. It has been approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi.
