IIT Kharagpur BTech Admission 2024
The BTech program of IIT Kharagpur/IIT Kolkata has around 15 specializations along with the capacity of almost 784 students. All those candidates who have completed class 12 in the science stream and have passed the JEE Main and Advanced examinations are eligible for admission to the course. In the JEE Advanced test, the cutoff range for the BTech program is 200-5000 marks.
IIT Kharagpur BTech Eligibility Criteria
The eligibility criteria for the IIT Kharagpur/IIT Kolkata BTech Program are given below. The candidates who are able to fulfill the set criteria will by default become eligible for the college’s selection process.
- Candidates need to have completed 10+2 with all the necessary minimum marks.
- Candidates need to qualify for JEE Main that is followed by JEE Advanced
IIT Kharagpur BTech Selection Criteria
- A merit list as per the college will be created and will be based on the outcomes of the 12th test, JEE Main, as well as JEE Advanced/ AAT score. It will include all the candidates’ rank called All India Rank (AIR).
- Candidates are required to register for the counseling process online via the JoSAA website. The next steps include choice filling as well as locking and these steps must be completed only by the student.
- Then all the seats will get assigned in every round of counseling that will be based on the cut-off established by IIT Kharagpur.

IIT Kharagpur Admissions Process 2024
IIT Kharagpur has created an admission process for all the levels of courses offered by IIT Kharagpur. It has its own admissions, entrance exams, as well as selection process. IIT Kharagpur Admissions processes all the BTech, BArch, as well as the integrated BTech-MTech programs are said to be made via the JEE (Advanced) entrance exam.
After completing all the qualifying exams, all the students need to get registered via the Joint Seat Allocation Authority portal. You also need to choose their preferred IIT as well as specialization. All the students gets offered admission to IIT Kharagpur which is based on their JEE (Advanced) scores as well as their preferences. All the students who are applying to B.Arch need to pass the AAT (Architecture Aptitude Test) along with the JEE Advanced.
All the students need to qualify for the required GATE exam to get admitted to the MTech and MTech/Ph.D dual degree programs.
- For GATE-qualified students, there is also a counseling process after which admission is offered.
- Admissions may be granted solely based on the GATE score or based on both personal interaction and the GATE score.
- Admission to the MCP-PhD program is said to be based on the student’s performance in the Joint M. Tech/MCP-Ph.D entrance exam.
- Admission to IIT Kharagpur’s unique Masters in Medical Technology Course is also obtained by applying on the IIT KGP website and passing a written test administered by IIT KGP.
- Admission to the LLM program is done through an online application on the IIT Kharagpur website, followed by a qualifying institute written test.
IIT Kharagpur MBA Admission Process
- Participate in the CAT qualifying entrance exam.
- Fill out the application form and pay the application fees online at IIT Kharagpur’s Vinod Gupta School of Management website.
- Attend the WAT PI shortlisting process.
- The final decision is based on the applicant’s CAT/GMAT score, academic background, and performance in the WAT-PI process.

Placement: I got placed in NTPC National Thermal Power Corporation which is a great electricity generating company in the India
Faculty: Teachers of IIT are all rounders some areare the alumnis of IIT’s PAN India and some are from the foreign University that is why there teaching style is different
College: History knows that IIT Khragpur was the 1st IIT to be open in India for the technical education which gave India’s finest number of engineers not only to India but to the world and i have done my Btech in Civil Engineering from this college and i am a 2011 passout when i was student the minimum rank for the admission was 1300 but i am unaware about now and the exam which they conducts was IIT-JEE.

Faculty: Teachers are well qualified and most of them are alumni of IIT only. They impart great education to the student.

It may not be the best of reviews but worth a read
Exam: State / National Entrance Exams
Placement: There’s limit scope for internships and placements in my field of study but there’s a lot of research going on abroad.
Faculty: Prof. Koeli Ghoshal (Math).
Simply because she makes us visualize what the theorems and postulates actually mean. Also she makes us understand the physical significance of it. Like how is it used in real life. So math seems interesting.
College: It’s a really good platform for all students irrespective of their streams. IIT Kharagpur is second best rated institution of India and there’s no denying that as the results(interns, jobs and PPOs) are evident. It doesn’t just focus on academic growth of a student but also helps to enhance an individual’s overall personality. Society and hall culture specially contributes to this factor as they teach you how to work in group. It’s all in one package!
