IIT Jammu Admission Process
- IIT Jammu Admission to various UG & PG courses is conducted national-level entrance examinations. B.Tech is the most opted program among all at IIT Jammu with an intake capacity of 240 students. Candidates seeking admission to the flagship B.Tech program at IIT Jammu must clear the JEE Advanced exam and register for the JoSAA counseling for their seat allocation. The total course fee for the 4-year B.Tech program is INR 4.84 Lacs. IIT Jammu Cutoff for the most popular BTech (CSE) program ranges between 3671-5238 rank in the JEE Advanced exam. - IIT Jammu also have M.Tech, a special B.Tech-MBA combo, and an MBA program. To get into the M.Tech program, you need to clear the GATE exam and go through COAP counseling. IIT Jammu has partnered with IIM Jammu for the B.Tech-MBA and MBA (HA & HM) programs. If you’re an IIT Jammu B.Tech student, you can switch to the MBA program after the 8th semester without needing a CAT score. Once the exam results are out, you can apply for admission on the official IIT Jammu website.
- IIT Jammu also provides a Ph.D. program in two areas: Engineering and Science. To get into the Ph.D. program, you need to do well in a department test, and they also consider your academic history, work experience, and interview. If you’ve qualified in exams like GATE, NET, CSIR, UGC, or SLET, you’re eligible for Ph.D. admission too. You can find out more about the courses and fees on the IIT Jammu website.
- IIT Jammu offers a B.Tech program in six different subjects. Each subject has a certain number of seats available, with most having 38 seats and one having 37. They also reserve a few extra seats for female candidates in some subjects. Here are the subjects you can choose from:

IIT Jammu Admission Eligibility
- To be eligible for the B.Tech program, you need to have at least 75% marks in your 10+2 exams or be in the top 20% of your class. For SC/ST candidates, the requirement is 65% marks.
- If you want to get into the B.Tech program at IIT Jammu, your admission is based on your rank in the Joint Entrance Examination - Advanced (JEE-Advanced).
- After that, there’s a centralized process for selecting students conducted by JoSAA, which happens at the national level. If you’re interested in this, you can register on the official website around the third week of June.
IIT Jammu BTech 2024
IIT Jammu B.Tech is said to be offered in six specializations. For every specialization, IIT Jammu is offering around 38 seats except for Mechanical Engineering, wherein only 37 seats are offered. IIT Jammu is also offering 5, 3, 2 supernumerary seats to woman candidates in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering respectively.

Candidates who are willing to go for IIT Jammu BTech need to have a minimum 75% marks in 10+2 from a recognized board of education OR Candidate in the top 20 percentile in class 12. For SC/ST candidates 10% relaxation is given in the qualifying degree marks, that means 65% is required in class 12.
IIT Jammu B.Tech Selection Criteria
IIT Jammu admission to B.Tech program is done through Joint Entrance Examination - Advanced (JEE-Advanced) rank followed by centralized counselling conducted by JoSAA at the all-India level. In order to learn about the JoSAA Counselling registration the aspirants need to visit the official website in the third week of June.
IIT Jammu M.Tech Admission
IITJammu M.Tech programme is avaiiable for 2 years and in six different specializations. Candidates will be shortlisted for Test/Interview (admission test) in due course, on the basis of concerned examination marks and GATE score. Then the final selection of students for admission will be based on the counselling round.

IIT Jammu Dual Degree Admission
IIT Jammu works in collaboration with IIM Jammu is offering a dual degree program (BTech + MBA). The total duration for the IIT Jammu Dual Degree is 6 years. The starting four years in B. Tech program and the last two years for the MBA program. IIT Jammu Dual Degree has been designed to get the students to be able to exit this degree from IIT Jammu after finally completing the fourth year, as specified in the National Education Policy 2020. After the student completes the fourth year of this Dual degree of IIT Jammu, The students will get to have an option of graduating with a B.Tech degree or earning a certificate in management.
IIT Jammu Dual Degree: Eligibility
- When it comes to the age limit, the qualifying examinations along with the year of appearance in these qualifying examinations, eligibility for the Dual Degree Program of IIT Jammu will be determined by the JEE (Main) and JEE (Advanced).
- Then in order to continue the MBA program without sitting for the CAT exam, a minimum CGPA of around 7 would be needed. Any aspirant with a CGPA of less than 7 after the fourth year need to go for the mandatory exit after completing the fourth year. The aspirants, however, will be able to take the CAT exam in to get an admission to IIMs.
IIT Jammu Dual Degree: Admission Criteria
- IIT Jammu will be using JEE to determine admission to the integrated dual degree program (Advanced).
- If the students get to achieve a CGPA of 7 or higher in the B.Tech., they will easily be able to complete both the B.Tech. and the MBA degrees without taking the CAT.

IIT Jammu MBA (HA/HM) Admission
IIT Jammu collaborates with AIIMS Jammu as well as IIM Jammu aims to offer MBA in Hospital Administration & Health Care Management. It is also important to know that IIM Jammu will be offering courses on Management, AIIMS Jammu will be offering courses on Hospital Administration and Health Care and IIT Jammu is offering courses in Technology. The selection criteria will be consisting of CAT examination, shortlisting of applicants for the Personal Interview (PI), and then the preparation of the merit list is done on the basis of CAT score, PI score, and Profile score. The total intake of IIT Jammu will be 60 seats.
IIT Jammu: PhD Admission
IIT Jammu is offering Ph.D programme in almost 10 different departments. These departments are Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Humanities & Social Sciences, Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics. IIT Jammu Admission to Ph.D is classified under two categories- Institute Research candidate (Full Time) and Full Time externally funded students ( UGC, CSIR, GPAT, etc).
IIT Jammu PhD Eligibility Criteria
To get into the full-time Ph.D. program at IIT Jammu, you need to meet one of these requirements:
- Students must have a Master’s degree in Engineering/Technology or a Master’s degree in Engineering/Technology with research experience, and your academic record should be good.
- Alternatively, if you have a Master’s degree in Science with a good academic record and a valid GATE score, UGC/CSIR-JRF, GPAT, NBHM, or a similar qualification, you will be eligible.
- If you have a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology and you’ve performed exceptionally well academically, along with a valid GATE score in the relevant discipline, you can also apply.
