Stage 1: The candidates are selected based on the score gained in CAT or other equivalent examinations and the final selection is done through a four-tier selection process for the Post Graduate Program (PGP) in IIM Indore. All prospective candidates desirous of joining the PGP program must first appear in the CAT examination. While doing registration they also have to fill in for the admission to the PGP program at IIM Indore in the same application. Stage 2: The next process that is implemented after the CAT exam is to shortlist candidates for the Personal Interview (PI) round. The candidates who have good ranks in CAT are selected for the PI round which is done offline at various centers like Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Indore, Kolkata, and Mumbai. The round that is what we call the PI round is also crucial in the selection process because when the PI is done the admissions committee can judge the candidate by his eloquence, his logical thinking processes, and suitability in equal measure.
Stage 3: The final phase of the admission process leads to the preparation of a merit list of candidates, who will be offered admission in the PGP program. This merit list is determined based on a cumulative score that is arrived at based on the candidate’s marks in his/her 10th and 12th standard examinations, CAT, and PI scores. This way, the making of the composite score is kept in check as a way of keeping a balance in assessing the academic background of all the candidates as well as their characteristics.
