The establishment of the IFIM Law School took place in the academic year of 1995. One of the major aspects of the institute is that it was founded by DSIJ Group (known to be a not for profit society) and run by Center for Developmental Education (CDE). Since its inception, the institute is affiliated to the Karnataka State Law University (KSLU) and is approved by the Bar Council of India (BCI). There are many more academic units established by the Center for Development Education including IFIM Business School, IFIM Law School, and IFIM College. The main aim to establish the school was to provide a strategic educational experience to the students with keen interest in the relevant fields.

The two renowned institutes have equally collaborated efforts to introducing BBA LLB program. The institutes are IFIM Business School and the IFIM Law School.
