The Tamil Nadu Board of Secondary Education, also referred to as the Tamil Nadu Board is responsible for overseeing the educational syllabus and exams for the students studying in the state of Tamil Nadu.

The State Common Board of School Education and Board of Higher Secondary Examinations or Tamil Nadu Board has announced the exam patterns for every subject. The class 12th exams can be broken down into four sections: multiple-choice questions in section one, two-mark questions in section two, three-mark questions in section three, and five questions in section four. For the students who will be appearing for their class 12th Board exams, they need to go through the exam pattern of every subject so that they get a general idea about their exams. With the help of the exam pattern, students get to know about the amount of time they need to dedicate to a particular topic. For example, if a topic carries a weightage of 25 marks then the student will give importance to it as compared to a topic which only 5 marks in the exam.
