XAT Exam 2023: Latest Updates

  • The XAT 2023 exam took place on January 8 and the results were made public on January 28. 
  • The XAT cut offs for the PGDM BM and PGDM HRM programs were announced by XLRI Jamshedpur today. 
  •  The XAT 2023 cutoff for the PGDM BM program is 95 percentile for male applicants and 92 percentile for female applicants, respectively. 
  • The institute has stated that the interview letters will be sent to the shortlisted candidates by February 6. 
  • On January 10, the XAT 2023 response sheet was made available. Candidates can download the XAT response sheet and answer key from the xatonline.in website, calculate their scores, and file objections.

What is XAT Exam 2023?

XLRI Jamshedpur administers the Xavier Aptitude Test at the national level. The XAT scores will be used for admissions at XLRI Jamshedpur and other Xavier Associate Management Institutes, as well as over 160 B-schools throughout the country.XLRI has been conducting XAT at all India levels for over 72 years in order to select the most suitable students for management education. More than 160 institutes use the XAT score to determine admission.

  • The exam pattern and structure have not changed, according to the XAT 2023 notification, with the exception of the essay writing section, which was reintroduced in XAT 2022. It appeared as a section in Part 2 of the paper in XAT 2022. However, the Essay Writing score was not taken into account when calculating the score/percentile. It was examined during the shortlisting process for the Personal Interview (PI) round. When the official mock test is released, we will know whether XLRI will keep Essay Writing as part of XAT 2023 or include it in the PI process.

XAT 2023 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must meet the eligibility criteria outlined by XLRI in order to fill out XAT Application forms.

  • Nationality: Indian citizens, as well as foreign nationals, can apply for admissions based on their GMAT scores for XAT 2023.
  • Graduation: A three-year bachelor's degree or its equivalent in any discipline from a recognized university is required.
  • Minimum Marks: There are no minimum aggregate marks in graduation required to apply for the XAT 2023 exam.
  • XAT Age Limit: There is no upper XAT age limit for appearing in XAT 2023. 
  • Final Year Students: Final year students can apply for the exam as long as they graduate by June 2022 and submit their scores to their respective colleges.
  • Number of Attempts: A student may take the exam an unlimited number of times.

XAT 2023 Registration Process

Candidates can refer to the following steps while registering or filling out the application form for XAT 2023.

Step 1 - Visit the official website of XLRI Jamshedpur 

The candidates are required to visit the official website i.e. www.xatonline.in and register for XAT 2023 to create login credentials.

Step 2 - Candidate Login/ Sign Up

Now, for a new login, click on new candidate login, and for those who have already registered, click on the "registered login" tab.

Candidates can see two options on the official website's home page. -

Option 1 - New candidate registration

Option 2 - Registered candidate login

Those who are taking the XAT for the first time should select option 1, while those who have previously registered at the XAT portal should select option 2 to fill out the XAT 2023 registration form. Those who have not previously registered must create a User ID and Password. Candidates must enter the following information in order to create credentials.

  • Candidates name
  • Email address
  • Enter mobile number
  • Set Password
  • Select State
  • Select city
  • Captcha code

Following successful submission, the screen will display XAT 2023 registration details..

To proceed, click the "Go to XAT application form" tab. Log in again by entering your XAT ID and Password. To fill out the XAT application form, click 'go to application form' and continue.

Step 3 - XAT 2023 Application form

After entering the XAT ID and Password and completing the XAT registration 2023 form, candidates can now complete the XAT application form and fill out various sections such as

  • Title (first, middle, and last names)
  • Email address and backup email address
  • Phone number and a backup phone number
  • Birthdate (as of August 31)
  • Gender
  • Nationality
  • Marital status
  • Blood group
  • Do you belong to PwD?

Step 5 - Provide information about your work experience.

  • Those with relevant work experience may provide it (this is not required).
  • Candidates must enter their work experience before the deadline.
  • The candidate must work full-time.
  • No part-time work experience will be considered.
  • Candidates must be working after graduation.

Step 6 - Enter program information

Candidates must now enter the program details that they wish to pursue. Candidates may select from the following courses.

  • Business Management
  • Human Resource Management
  • Fellow Programme in Management
  • For the General Management Programme (a minimum of 56 months experience is required),
  • Following program selection, candidates must indicate their preferred campus for each program.
  • When completing the XAT 2023 application form, candidates must select a test-city preference for where they want to take the entrance exam. Candidates can choose between two cities, as was the case the previous year.

Upload documents- While filling out the XAT 2023 application form, candidates will have to upload the requisite documents

  • Passport-size photographs should be recent, and the background should be white. The photograph must show the subject's face, head, and shoulders.
  • Passport-size photos should be no older than 6 months.
  • Candidates' photographs and signatures must be uploaded in the prescribed size and format to the XAT application form.

After uploading the required documents, the computer screen will display the XAT 2023 application form declaration.

Step 7: Pay the XAT Exam Fee

After completing the entire XAT application form, candidates must pay the XAT exam fee 2023. Candidates must pay Rs 2000 using the payment method listed below.

XAT Fees to Complete Registration

  • Unlike most other MBA entrance exams, the XAT 2023 Exam Fees are not differentiated based on the candidate's category. Aside from the XAT application fees, candidates must also pay for the programs to which they wish to apply:
  • Registration Fee for XAT (without late fee): Rs. 2000/-
  • Candidates who are interested in the XLRI program(s) must pay an additional fee of Rs. 200/- per course.

  • Candidates interested in XLRI programs must pay an additional fee of Rs 300/- each.
  • Indian candidates applying for GMP via GMAT must pay Rs 2500/-.
  • NRI/Foreign candidates who apply for one or more programs through GMAT must pay Rs 5000/-.
  • SC candidates do not pay a separate XAT registration fee.

Step 8: Save the payment receipt.

The computer screen will display the candidates' details after they have paid the XAT 2023 application fee. Candidates must download the XAT application details, which will be available in PDF format. This will be communicated to them via a confirmation test sent to their registered email address and mobile number.

XAT Admit Card 2023

  • The exam authority will release the XAT 2023 Admit Card on December 20, 2022. It will be available for download at xatonline.in, the official website.
  • Only candidates who have successfully registered for XAT 2023 will be issued an admit card.
  • The XAT Admit Card will include all necessary information about the exam center, exam time, reporting time, and exam day instructions.
  • Candidates will not be permitted to enter the exam hall unless they have a printed copy of their admit card.

  • Visit the XAT 2023 official website i.e www.xatonline.in  .
  • Click the 'Download Admit Card' button. 
  • Enter your XAT User ID and date of birth, then click the 'login' button.

XAT Marking Scheme 2023

The XAT marking scheme hasn't changed significantly in the previous two years. It is advised to remember the following crucial details about the XAT 2023 Marking Scheme:

  • Each MCQ is worth one mark, and each incorrect response is worth 0.25 points.
  • The deduction of 0.10 marks for each unattempted question after 8 unattended questions is a unique feature of the XAT exam marking pattern.
  • The Essay is only evaluated for candidates who have been selected for the PI round.
  • The GK section has no negative marking, and GK scores are not used to calculate final XAT scores.

XAT Syllabus

The XAT syllabus covers all of the essential topics of Verbal & Logical Ability, Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation, and General Knowledge. Decision Making is a one-of-a-kind section with no syllabus. XAT preparation is based on previous year's questions. The remaining three XAT subjects cover important topics in their respective fields. Reading Comprehension, English Grammar, and Verbal Ability are all examples of Verbal & Logical Ability. Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Set Theory, and other topics are covered in the Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation course. Politics, culture, society, personalities, business, art & entertainment, sports, inventions, innovation, world, economy, science, technology, books, and so on are all covered in the GK section.

XAT Exam Day Guidelines

For a stress-free exam day, XAT candidates must follow the guidelines established by the examination authority. Given below are some key XAT exam day guidelines, candidates must follow:

  • Arrive at the exam center an hour before the scheduled reporting time.
  • Bring no electronic devices, such as a cell phone, watch, or calculator, to the exam center.
  • Do not bring any stationary or food to the exam center.

XAT Answer Key 2023

The preliminary XAT answer key will be made available in the form of a response sheet within two to three days of the examination, and the final answer key will be made available by the second week of January, following an analysis of all student objections. Using their login ID and password, candidates will be able to download their XAT 2023 response sheets and answer key from the exam website. 

XAT 2023 Answer Key: Key Highlights

  • There are 4-5 sets of XAT question paper, and XLRI publishes the XAT answer key for all of them.
  • XLRI does not release XAT answer key for GK questions and Essay Writing Test in XAT exam because they are not counted for percentile calculation.
  • As a result, the XAT Answer key is only available for three sections that have negative marking: Verbal & Logical Ability, Decision Making, Quantitative Aptitude & Data Interpretation.

XAT 2023 Result

XLRI Selection Process Through XAT 2023

Admission to XLRI, Jamshedpur via XAT consists of three stages: candidate shortlisting, group discussion and personal interview, and final selection.

Step 1: Candidate selection

Following the exam, candidates will be shortlisted for a group discussion and personal interview at XLRI, Jamshedpur based on their XAT score.   

Step 2: Personal Interview and Group Discussion

The schedule for group discussions and personal interviews for selected candidates will be announced by the end of January by XLRI, Jamshedpur. The admission round will be held in various cities, and candidates must confirm their interview city online on the XLRI official website within the time limit specified. 

Step 3: Final Decision

  • For the purpose of preparing the final merit list, each candidate will be evaluated based on their XAT 2023 score, GD/PI performance, academic history, and other parameters. Selected candidates will be contacted to complete the admissions process.
  • Other institutes' XAT-accepting selection procedures
  • Institutes that accept XAT scores for admission to MBA/PGDM programs have their own application and admissions process. While some institutes open their registration window well in advance of the XAT exam, others begin their registration process after the XAT results are announced. 

XAT Result Announcement

The XAT 2023 results will be released in the third week of January. Candidates can access their scorecards via the official XAT and XLRI websites. The following is a brief description of the XAT result download process:

  • Navigate to the XAT ONLINE website at xatonline.in.
  • Select the 'XAT 2023 scorecard' tab.
  • Enter your XAT User ID and date of birth, then click the 'login' button.
  • Save a copy of the XAT result cum scorecard as a PDF.

XAT 2023 Exam Centres

  • XLRI will hold the XAT 2023 exam in 81 cities across the country at over 100 test locations. International test cities for XAT 2023 may not exist. Previously, the XAT was held in Dubai (UAE) and Kathmandu (Nepal) (Nepal).
  • Due to an increase in the number of applicants, XLRI has increased the number of test cities from 46 to 80+. When applying for the XAT 2023 exam, candidates can select two preferred test cities. The name and address of the XAT 2023 test centre assigned to you will be shown on your XAT Admit Card.
