The UGC NET 2018 examination was conducted yesterday, July 8, 2018, across 91 cities. The examination was conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). Nearly 11.48 candidates appeared for the examination. The NET 2018 examination was conducted for 84 different subjects.
Major Changes in UGC NET 2018:
- Earlier the NET examination comprised of 3 papers but from this year there were 2 objective type papers.
- Earlier Paper II carried 50 questions and Paper III carried 75 question but from the current year, the merged paper comprised of a total number of 100 questions.
- The time duration for Paper I have been reduced to 60 minutes and the same for Paper II was 120 minutes.
- According to the notification released by the CBSE, the examination was conducted across 2,082 examination centres. A total number of 2,864 observers and 675 Board official were deputed at the examination centres.
UGC NET 2018 Exam Analysis:
- The examination was conducted in two sessions. Paper I was conducted in the first session from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM. Paper II was conducted in the second session from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
- Paper I carried 50 objective type compulsory questions. The candidate will be provided with additional 2 marks for each correct answer and no mark will be deducted for wrong answer.
- The questions in Paper I were drafted to check the teaching and research aptitude of the candidate. The questions were based on reasoning ability, comprehension, logical reasoning, and general awareness.
- The Paper II comprised of 100 objective type compulsory questions. The candidate will be provided with additional 2 marks for each correct answer and no mark will be deducted for wrong answer.
- Paper II covered the entire syllabus of earlier Paper II and Paper III.
UGC NET 2018 Expected Cut Off:
- The UGC NET 2018 Cut Off will entirely depend on responses received from the candidates in the examination.
- Cut Off of Paper I is expected to fall between 67 to 75 marks.
- The Cut Off for Paper II will vary from subject to subject. The candidates who attempted 67 percent of the questions in Paper II have chances of successfully qualifying the examination.
- Higher Cut Off is expected for Foreign Languages such as Chinese, French, Russian, Japanese and German.
UGC NET 2018 Answer Key is expected to be released in the last week of August 2018. The candidates who appeared for examination will have an opportunity to raise objections and send their grievance or objections to UGC NET.
