What are the factors that affect NMAT Passing Marks 2023?

Considering the patterns observed in previous years, it is anticipated that the NMIMS NMAT cutoff for 2023 will remain relatively consistent with the cutoff of the previous year. NMAT participating colleges will establish their respective cutoff scores based on several determining factors outlined below:

Number of Test Takers: Before releasing the cutoff scores, authorities take into account the total number of candidates who participated in the NMAT exam. If there is a larger number of test-takers for NMAT 2023, it is likely that the cutoff score will be set at a higher level.

Availability of Seats: The availability of seats is a crucial factor in determining the NMAT passing marks for 2023. If the number of applicants for NMAT 2023 is lower than the available seats in participating colleges, the cutoff score is likely to be lower.

Reservation Criteria: An important consideration when establishing cutoffs is the reservation criteria. Typically, candidates belonging to reserved categories (SC/ST/OBC) have lower admission cutoffs compared to general category candidates.

NMAT 2023 Difficulty Level: NMAT participating colleges take into account the overall difficulty level of the NMAT exam before finalizing the cutoff scores for admission.

Previous Year Cutoff Trends: Participating institutes also assess the cutoff trends from previous years while determining the current cutoff. It is probable that the new cutoff will align closely with the patterns observed in previous years.

NMAT Selection Round 2023: Phase Wise

To secure admission to the MBA program at NMIMS or other institutions that participate in NMAT, the primary step is to undertake the NMAT 2023 examination. Upon successfully clearing the exam, candidates become eligible to participate in the subsequent stages of the selection process. The following represents the various selection phases:

  • Candidates commence with the NMAT by GMAC exam for 2023.
  • In order to progress to the subsequent selection rounds, candidates must attain the minimum NMAT cutoff score for 2023.

NMAT Selection Procedure 2023

The selection process for NMAT 2023 will encompass group discussions/case discussions, personal interviews, and a written ability test. These stages will be conducted independently by the NMAT participating institutions, following their individual admission schedules. Below is a brief overview of the various rounds:

Group Discussion (GD) / Case Discussion (CD): The GD round typically consists of 7-8 candidates per group, each assigned a different discussion topic. In some colleges, a case discussion round may be held instead. This phase involves a structured conversation on a provided case or scenario. Candidates are expected to make two to three meaningful contributions within a limited timeframe, usually around 15 minutes.

Personal Interview (PI): Following the completion of the GD round, institutes will organize personal interviews. During this phase, the internal selection committee of the business school and experts will conduct interviews with the candidates, asking questions spanning various areas such as management, current affairs, and more.

Written Ability Test (WAT): Many business schools that accept NMAT scores incorporate a WAT round, which typically lasts for 15-30 minutes. This round assesses the candidates' written and communication skills. In the WAT round, candidates are tasked with writing on a specific topic within the provided time limit.
