New Assessment Scheme of CBSE and Changes Made in Board Exam Pattern

CBSE has announced Special Assessment Scheme for Board Exams on 5th July 2021. According to these criteria, CBSE will conduct a two-term paper, one in Nov/Dec 2021 and the second one in March/April 2022. Additionally, each term will cover 50% of the syllabus.

As CBSE Board Exam are round the corner, mentioned below are the details of the CBSE Assessment scheme:

  • Two Academic sessions with each Session covering 50% syllabus in each term.
  • The subject matter expert will look after the syllabus which will be divided in a systematic manner that connects all the concepts and topics.
  • The Syllabus will be rationalized in a similar way to last year academic session.
  • Internal Assessment Practical Project will be given importance as per guidelines and moderation policy announced by Board.

CBSE Class 12 Term Examination Details

CBSE Class 12th Exam will be conducted in 2 terms; both the term has different duration and type of questions are also different in both the term paper.

Given below is difference in Term 1 Paper and Term 2 Paper.

In Term 1 Paper students will be given OMR Sheet and they will have to mark the answers in the same Sheet. Marks of Term 1 Paper will be added in overall marks of the student. Out of 50 question students are required to answer only 45 questions. Students should properly darken the circles in OMR sheet so that it is considered as answer.

However, if situation doesn't allow CBSE Board to conduct normal descriptive exams, then board may conduct MCQ based exam of 90 min.

CBSE Class 12 Boards Marking Scheme Details

The below marking scheme is very important for the student who will be appearing for board exams;

  • A minimum mark of 33% is mandatory to pass in a subject.
  • Candidates need to secure at least 33% marks in aggregate.
  • If the student has not secured 33 marks in any subject, then he/she has to appear for a supplementary exam.
  • Practical and Internal assessment marks will be considered for overall marks calculation.
  • Grace marks are awarded on a scale of 2 to 5 for a particular subject.

CBSE Class 12 Board Assessment Scheme 2021-22

  • There will be 3 sections of the exam depending on the nature of the subject; i.e., Written, Practical and Internal Assessment.
  • There will 40 Questions which include MCQ, very short, short and long answer questions.
  • There will be less application-based questions
  • Mode of Examination will be offline
  • Duration of the exams would be 3hrs 15min, where 15min would be given to read the question paper.
  • The medium of examination would be either English or Hindi.
  • Each MCQ will carry one mark for each question. Very short question will be of 2 marks, short question will be of 3 and long question will be of 4 marks.
  • There will be no negative marking.

Some Important Changes in CBSE Class 12 Exam Pattern 2021

CBSE Board for the session 2020-21 has reduced the syllabus by 30% and made some changes in exam pattern. There will be less no of application-based question and no. of MCQ also increases. Some of the main changes in exam pattern of CBSE 12th Exam pattern:

1. MCQ in English language and Literature – 

  • 50% of the question will be MCQ based.
  • The difficulty level has been reduced.
  • CBESE board has also released sample paper for the same.

2. Assertion and Reason Based question in Biology-

  • Multiple choice question has been eliminated and the question will be assertion and reason based
  • Sample paper of Biology has been released by CBSE board, student can download the sample paper and practise accordingly.

3.Case Study Based Question in Physics – 

  • There will more case study-based question.
  • Some question will be based on assertion and reason.
  • CBSE website has released sample paper of Physics.

4. Case Study Based Questions in Mathematics – 

  • There will case study-based question.
  • No. of MCQ will more in mathematic subject.
  • No changes in the total no. of question and marks.
  • Sample paper for mathematics can be downloaded from official website of CBSE.

5. Assertion and Reason Based, MCQs in Economics – 

  • There will be 20 MCQs in Economics
  • More no of question related to assertion and reasoning,
  • MCQ will be of one mark each.
  • Less no. of question based on graphs and numeric.
  • Practise Economic sample paper for better understanding

CBSE 12th Board Old Pattern Vs New Pattern

There has been a lot of changes in the exam pattern of class 12th exam pattern. The number of objective type questions have increased whereas the application-based questions are less in new exam pattern.
