What is NEET MDS?

NEET MDS stands for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Masters of Dental Surgery. It is a national-level entrance exam conducted by the National Board of Examinations (NBE) every year for admission to MDS courses in dental institutions in India.

The exam is a two-hour, objective-type exam consisting of 240 questions, each carrying 1 mark. The questions are divided into two sections: Section A (100 questions) and Section B (140 questions). Section A consists of questions on General Knowledge, English, and Quantitative Reasoning, while Section B consists of questions on Dental Sciences.

NEET MDS Exam Date: New Updates

  • Result: The NEET MDS result will be declared on July 10, 2023.
  • Counselling: The NEET MDS counselling is scheduled to be conducted in the month of July 2023.

Previously, NEET MDS exam was held on March 1, 2023. Furthermore, NEET MDS admit card has been issued on 22 February 2023.

NEET MDS Exam Date: Eligibility Criteria

The following are the eligibility criteria for NEET MDS:

  • The candidate must have passed the BDS degree from a dental college recognized by the Dental Council of India (DCI).
  • The candidate must have completed at least 1 year of internship after completing the BDS degree.
  • The candidate must have a valid registration with the DCI.

NEET MDS Application Procedure:

The NEET MDS Application Procedure can be completed through the following steps: 

  • Go to the official website of NBE: https://nbe.edu.in/
  • Click on the "NEET MDS 2023" link.
  • Click on the "Apply Online" button.
  • Enter your personal details, such as your name, date of birth, email address, and contact number.
  • Upload your scanned photograph and signature.
  • Pay the application fee.
  • Submit your application form.

The application process for NEET MDS 2023 is online. The NEET MDS application form can be filled up on the official website of NBE. The application fee for NEET MDS 2023 is INR 1500 for general category candidates and INR 750 for reserved category candidates.

NEET MDS Admit Card: 

The NEET MDS admit card is a mandatory document for appearing in the NEET MDS exam. It contains all the important details about the candidate, such as their name, date of birth, exam center, and exam date.

The NEET MDS admit card will be released online on the official website of the National Board of Examinations (NBE) on February 22, 2023. The candidates can download their admit card by entering their registration number and date of birth.

The NEET MDS admit card will contain the following details:

  • Name of the candidate
  • Date of birth
  • Registration number
  • Exam center
  • Exam date and time
  • Instructions for the exam

The candidates must carefully check the NEET MDS admit card for any errors. If there are any errors, the candidates must contact the NBE immediately. The NEET MDS admit card must be carried to the exam center on the day of the exam. The candidates must also produce valid ID proof at the exam center.

NEET MDS Syllabus:

The NEET MDS syllabus is a comprehensive and challenging syllabus. It is important for candidates to prepare thoroughly for the exam by studying all of the topics in the syllabus. The NEET MDS syllabus is divided into two sections: Section A and Section B. Section A consists of 100 questions, each carrying 1 mark, on General Knowledge, English, and Quantitative Reasoning. Section B consists of 140 questions, each carrying 1 mark, on Dental Sciences.

The topics covered in Section A of the NEET MDS syllabus are as follows:

  • General Knowledge: This section includes questions on current affairs, history, geography, polity, economics, science, and technology.
  • English: This section includes questions on grammar, comprehension, and usage.
  • Quantitative Reasoning: This section includes questions on arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and probability.

The topics covered in Section B of the NEET MDS syllabus are as follows:

  • Dental Anatomy and Physiology: This section includes questions on the anatomy and physiology of the teeth, jaws, and associated structures.
  • Dental Materials: This section includes questions on the properties and uses of dental materials.
  • Oral Pathology and Microbiology: This section includes questions on the diseases of the mouth and teeth and the microorganisms that cause them.
  • Oral Medicine and Radiology: This section includes questions on the diagnosis and management of oral diseases and the use of radiology in dentistry.
  • Prosthodontics and Crown and Bridge: This section includes questions on the restoration of teeth and the replacement of missing teeth.
  • Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics: This section includes questions on the filling of teeth and the treatment of root canals.
  • Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery: This section includes questions on the surgical treatment of diseases and injuries of the mouth and jaws.
  • Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry: This section includes questions on the care of children's teeth and the prevention of dental diseases.
  • Public Health Dentistry: This section includes questions on the promotion of oral health in the community.

NEET MDS Result:

The NEET MDS result 2023 was declared on March 10, 2023. The result was available on the official website of NBE: (https://nbe.edu.in/)

The NEET MDS result is available in two formats:

  • Scorecard: The scorecard contains the candidate's name, roll number, registration number, category, marks obtained, and sectional details.
  • Rank: The rank is calculated on the basis of the candidate's marks and the number of candidates who appeared for the exam.

NEET MDS Result: Details Mentioned

  • Candidate's name: The candidate's name as mentioned in the application form.
  • Roll number: The roll number that was allotted to the candidate during the application process.
  • Registration number: The registration number that was allotted to the candidate during the application process.
  • Category: The category of the candidate, as mentioned in the application form.

The NEET MDS result 2023 is valid for one year. The candidates who have qualified for NEET MDS 2023 will be eligible to participate in the counselling process for admission to MDS courses.

NEET MDS Cut-Off:

The NEET MDS cut-off is an important factor for candidates who are planning to apply for MDS courses in India. Candidates must aim to score a high enough mark in the exam in order to be eligible for admission to their desired course. The NEET MDS cut-off is the minimum qualifying score that a candidate must obtain in order to be eligible for admission to MDS courses in India. The NEET MDS cut-off is different for different categories of candidates, such as general, SC, ST, and PwD.

The NBE has defined the minimum qualifying percentile cut-off for NEET MDS 2023 as follows:

  • General and EWS category: 50th percentile
  • SC/ST/OBC/reserved PWD category: 40th percentile
  • General PWD/EWS-PWD category: 45th percentile

The NEET MDS cut-off is determined by the number of seats available in MDS courses and the number of candidates who appear for the exam. The  NEET MDS cut-off is usually released a few weeks after the exam is conducted.

NEET MDS Counseling:

NEET MDS counseling is the process through which candidates who have qualified for NEET MDS are allotted seats in MDS courses. The counseling process is conducted by the National Board of Examinations (NBE) in two phases:

Phase 1: In the first phase, candidates are ranked based on their NEET MDS scores. The candidates are then allotted seats in the MDS courses in order of their rank.

Phase 2: In the second phase, candidates who have not been allotted seats in Phase 1 are given a chance to participate in the mop-up round. In the mop-up round, seats that have been vacated by candidates who have accepted their seats in Phase 1 are allotted to the remaining candidates.

The NEET MDS counseling process for 2023 is expected to begin in July 2023. The NBE will release the counseling schedule on its website.

  • Registration: Candidates who have qualified for NEET MDS must register for counseling on the NBE website.
  • Choice filling: Candidates must fill in their choices of MDS courses and colleges.
  • Seat allotment: Candidates are allotted seats based on their NEET MDS scores and their choices.
  • Payment of fees: Candidates who have been allotted seats must pay the fees in order to confirm their admission.
