LLB Syllabus 2023: Entrance Exam

In most cases, students must take a common national entrance exam, such as CLAT or AILET, when applying for a course. CLAT is the most widely used LLB entrance exam. However, some states have their entrance exam for students interested in pursuing a legal career. The syllabus for the vast majority of the entrance exams is the same. BA LLB Subjects List

While earning a Bachelor of Laws degree, students learn about different types of law and how they apply to different legal systems worldwide. The following are BA LLB subjects in detail focused on providing a comprehensive understanding of national law and regulation.

1) Environmental Law

Study current laws on environmental protection, climate change, pollutant burden principles, waste treatment and economic law, sewage treatment, hazardous waste treatment, electronic waste, etc.

2) Intellectual Property Law

Learn about the complexity of copyrights, trademarks, patents, and licenses and how they work to empower creators without compromising the broad interests of the community.

3) Psychology and Law or Legal Psychology

Forensic psychology is a rapidly expanding field of study led by lawyers interested in studying human behaviour and psychologists interested in law. Clinical psychology, criminal research, public policy, and forensic psychology are the most common psychology law careers.

4) Constitutional Law

Constitutional law is one of the most important branches of a country's legal system, which deals with the study and interpretation of various articles, sections, doctrines, and provisions of the Constitution. 

5) Contracts

Contract law is an important component of the legal department's BA LLB compulsory subjects. It establishes what constitutes a good contract and what constitutes a valid offer and acceptance, as well as other requirements for a contract to be legally enforceable.

6) Criminal Law

Criminal Law practitioners are at the center of crook offenses, figuring out charges, trial procedures, and application processes. Criminal code structures around the arena vary to a point and should be interpreted in mild of the country's context.

7) Corporate Law

Companies and corporations are governed by a separate set of laws known as Company Laws. Companies hire corporate lawyers to ensure that they operate within the confines of the country's corporate law.

8) Human Rights Laws

Human rights lawyers and scholars have redefined the term "human rights" to include various rights such as survival rights, political rights, environmental rights, social and cultural rights, etc. By specializing in it, students will be able to work with international organizations such as the United Nations and Amnesty International.

LLB Course Structure

In general, the syllabus of the LLB course is structured as a core and elective subject. The LLB subjects list is divided into six semesters, including introducing all the basic law subjects as a foundation course for the three years of the course. The course focuses on different law concepts.

Students can practice under a senior attorney as a junior from the third year last semester to gain exposure and experience. Internships form an important component of law education. The course structure is:

CLAT

Common Law Admission Test or popularly known as CLAT is a national-level entrance test conducted by the Consortium of NLUs and Bar Council of India for admission to law courses such as LLB/ BBA LLB/ B.Sc LLB/ LLM. It is an offline examination for 2 hours with 120 - 150 questions. The minimum eligibility for the CLAT Exam is to pass 10+2 from a recognized Board.
