The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) has recently declared the JoSAA 2024 registration tentative dates. The JoSAA 2024 registration is expected to begin on June 10, 2024. Candidates who have secured the qualifying scores for JEE Main 2024 and JEE Advanced 2024 will be eligible to register for the JoSAA counseling. The candidates can register for JoSAA from its official website at josaa.nic.in. Once the JoSAA 2024 registration is completed, candidates then need to complete the choice-filling process. This is done by entering the candidate’s preferences by filling out the institutes and engineering streams of their choice. JoSAA will allot seats to the candidates based on the choices selected by the candidates, depending upon the availability of seats in the selected institutes.

What is JoSAA?
JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) was started by the Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD), Government of India, to conduct the JEE Main and JEE Advance seat allocation for admissions to various IITs, NITs, IIITs, and other government technical Institutes. The MHRD introduced this seat allocation authority to reduce the vacant seats in engineering colleges in India. JoSAA functions as a single platform to conduct admissions to these institutes. JoSAA conducts the entire seat allocation procedure and ensures that the process is smooth, transparent, and most importantly effective for engineering aspirants across the country.

Steps to Register for JoSAA 2024
The steps to register for JoSAA 2024 are listed below:
- Visit the official website josaa.nic.in.
- Click on "JoSAA Counselling Registration" option.
- Next, enter the JEE Main or JEE Advance application number and password
- Next click on the submit button.
- After submitting the details, a new window comprising all the details of the candidate (as entered in JEE Main/JEE Advanced) will be displayed. Candidates must cross-check all the details diligently and then change their passwords.
- Candidates can only change their contact details during the JoSAA counseling registration 2024. Candidates should provide a valid contact number or email ID during the registration process.
- Candidates must then verify all the details again and then click on "Submit".
- Once registration is successful, candidates can check the choices of engineering institutions and the branches available based on their rank.
- Candidates can choose the available institutions and branches.
- After filling out the choices, candidates must lock their choices. This is a required step in the JoSAA 2024 seat allotment process

JoSAA 2024 Registration Important Guidelines
- During the JoSAA registration, some of the things can be edited whereas some details cannot be edited
- Details that cannot be edited are the candidate’s name, guardian’s name, date of birth, category, and class 12 examination board.
- Details that can be edited are gender, nationality, state of eligibility, and contact number.
JoSAA 2024 Choice Filling Instructions
Candidates are advised to follow the instructions listed below while entering their JoSAA 2024 seat allocation choice:
- Candidates will be given a 10-day window to fill their choices of institutions and branches.
- Students should fill the choices in the decreasing order of their priorities.
- Candidates should fill in the choices as soon as possible and not wait till the last submission day.
- Once the deadline is over, the candidates will not be able to change their choice.
JoSAA 2024 Eligibility Criteria
The eligibility criteria to participate in the seat allocation rounds are listed below:
- Candidates who have qualified for JEE Main 2024 will be able to take part in the seat allocation round.
- Candidates who have qualified for JEE Advanced 2024 will also be able to take part in the seat allocation round.
- Candidates should secure a minimum of 75% for general and 65% SC, ST, and PwD candidates in Class 12 from a recognized board or must be in the top 20 percentile.
