Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering, commonly known as GATE is a national level qualifying examination for admissions into Post Graduate Engineering Programs, that is, M.E/M. Tech and Ph.D. GATE is conducted by the collaboration of Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) on behalf of the National Coordination Board (NCB).
The official GATE notification for 2019 exam was released on July 6, 2018.
The main idea of the GATE exam is to check the comprehensive abilities of a candidate in various subfields of engineering. GATE score's relativity is across various sectors. Several Government-owned companies accept GATE score for recruitments.
GATE 2019 will be conducted by IIT Madras on February 2,3,9, and 10 for 24 Papers in total. The GATE official website is gate.iitm.ac.in.

The Online Application Forms of GATE will be available from September 1, 2018, on GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS). The Forms will be released by IIT Madras.

*Candidates will have the opportunity for application form correction, in case of any mistakes while filling the same. This may happen during the second week of November 2018. Not all details will be made available for correction, and there will be a fee penalty for the same.

There will be no common centralized counseling sessions after the Result release of the exam. The candidates will have to apply separately for colleges of their preferences through the rank and score obtained. To apply into any IIT, candidates can do the same through GATE Common Offer Acceptance Portal (COAP) and Centralized Counselling for M. Tech (CCMT) portal for those who wish to apply for NITs.
*Those candidates who have a valid GATE score card of 2017/2018/2019 are eligible to apply for counseling/ seat allotment in 2019 in any college of their choice.
The Result for the GATE exam will be announced on March 16th, 2019. The candidates can check the same online by providing Enrollment Number, Registration Number (will be generated while filling the Application Form) and Date of Birth. The qualified candidates will have to download their Scorecard from 20th March to 31st May 2019.
