The NTA administers the Central University Entrance Test (CUET), a national entrance examination for admission to UG programmes provided by all participating universities. The University Grants Commission has modified the exam's original full name, Central Universities Common Entrance Test, or CUCET, from last year (UGC). Over 500 places in India and overseas host the exam once a year. For two hours, the exam is given in a computer-based style. Initially, CUCET was administered by UGC using a paper-and-pencil format. Since last year, NTA has been administering the test using computers.
