The Physical Standard Test (PST) and the Physical Efficiency Test (PET) are two of the most important selection phases that candidates must go through in order to become CRPF Constables. The PST and PET are therefore two essential parts of the screening process since they evaluate the candidates' resilience, strength, agility, and physical condition to join the CRPF.
CRPF Physical Test
The CRPF Physical Test is one of the important phases of the selection process because it determines whether a candidate is physically fit to join the unit or not. It is very crucial to qualify for the CRPF Physical Tests and meet the physical standards successfully. The physical test is further classified into Physical Standards Test (PST) and Physical Efficiency Test (PET).
The PST determines whether a candidate satisfies the prescribed CRPF physical standards or not. While, on the other hand, the PET determines whether a candidate is physically efficient in on-ground activities or not. Check the following requirements:
- Height: Candidates must fulfill a minimum height requirement. The minimum height for males is 170 cm and for females in 157 cm.
- Chest: Only male candidates need to qualify for a specific chest requirement, that is 80 - 85 cm.
- Weight: The applicant should weigh in line with their age and height.
- Vision: Candidates should be able to see 6/6 in one eye and 6/9 in the other without corrective lenses.
Height for CRPF Physical Test
A candidate needs to fulfill a certain physical height requirement in order to be considered for the physical tests. This is a mandatory test for both male and female candidates. Check the minimum height requirements in the following table:
Height | Male | Female |
General, SC, ST, OBC candidates | 170 cm | 157 cm |
NOTE: these are the minimum height requirements for a candidate.
Chest Specifications for CRPF Physical Test
The physical standards test also includes a chest assessment that is only specific to the male candidates. This is one of the steps to determine the physical requirements of the candidate. The chest requirements for the male candidates belonging to all categories should be:
- Normal - 80 cm
- Expanded - 85 cm
CRPF Physical Efficiency Test
After qualifying for the Physical Standards Test (PST), candidates move to the Physical Efficiency Test (PET). At this phase, both male and female candidates are required to demonstrate their strength and fitness in a variety of physical activities or sporting events.
For instance, they will be asked to complete a physical race of a set number of kilometers in a specific amount of time. Also, the candidates must fulfill the qualification requirements in order to be eligible for the CRPF Physical tests.
The CRPF Physical Efficiency Test details are mentioned in the following table:
Activities | Male | Female |
Race | 1.6 km distance to be covered in 6 minutes and 30 seconds 100 m race to be covered in 16 seconds | 800 m distance to be covered in 4 minutes 100 m race to be covered in 18 seconds |
Long Jump | 3.65 m in 3 chances | 9 feet in 3 chances |
High Jump | 1.2 meters in 3 chances | 3 feet in 3 chances |
Shot Put (16 lbs) | 4.5 m in 3 chances | NA |
NOTE: The weight of the male and female candidates shall be regarded according to medical norms as proportionate to age and height.
If a candidate is found to be unqualified during the Physical Standards Test, they may choose to appeal to the PST grounds authorities. The authority's judgment is final, and no more appeals or representations in this regard will be accepted.
CRPF Height and Chest Relaxations
There are provisions for relaxations of the necessary physical criteria ( the CRPF Height and Chest measures) for candidates who fall into certain categories. The official notification of CRPF stated these relaxations. However, it might change depending on the candidate's category to guarantee evaluation and consideration of applicants with different backgrounds.
Candidates can check the relaxations in the following table:
Category | Height | Chest Measurement
Male | Female | Male | Female
Schedules Tribes | 162.5 cm | 164 cm | 77 - 82 cm | NA |
Candidates belonging to the hill stations | 165 cm | 155 cm | 80 - 85 cm | NA |
Documents Required for CRPF Physical Test
Candidates will qualify to the next level of the selection process, which is the Document Verification round if they pass both the Physical Standards Test and the Physical Efficiency Test. In order to be evaluated during this verification process, candidates must produce the following documents:
- Two printed copies of the CRPF Physical Test Admit Card in color.
- Authentic photo identification proof
- Certificate of Matriculation or Class 10 Secondary Examination.
- Grades certificates and mark sheets from school.
- Domicile Certificate.

CRPF Constable Physical Examination - PET Preparation Plan
Candidates must diligently prepare for the Physical Efficiency Test (PET) in order to pass the CRPF Physical Test. Here is a detailed list of the workouts that candidates should incorporate into their training regimen :
Types of Exercise | Motive | Examples |
Cardiovascular Endurance | Improve speed | Running, jogging, swimming |
Strength Training | Improve body strength | Push-ups, squats, lunges |

Candidates must consistently prepare themselves by adhering to a balanced fitness regimen that incorporates cardio, weight training, endurance exercises, and stretching and flexibility activities in order to pass the PST and PET.
