1.  Reading Skills:

The Reading Skills section of the Class 12 English syllabus covers a wide range of topics, including:

  • Literary Appreciation: This section focuses on understanding and appreciating literary texts. Students will learn to identify different literary devices, analyze the structure of a text, and interpret the meaning of a text.
  • Critical Thinking: This section focuses on developing critical thinking skills. Students will learn to analyze arguments, evaluate evidence, and form their own opinions.
  • Vocabulary and Grammar: This section focuses on improving vocabulary and grammar skills. Students will learn to use a variety of language structures and to use correct grammar and punctuation.

2.  Creative Writing Skills:

The Creative Writing Skills section of the Class 12 English syllabus covers a range of topics, including:

  • Poetry: This section focuses on writing poetry. Students will learn about different poetic forms, and how to write poems that are both creative and effective.
  • Prose: This section focuses on writing prose. Students will learn about different types of prose, and how to write prose that is both clear and engaging.
  • Drama: This section focuses on writing drama. Students will learn about different types of drama, and how to write plays that are both entertaining and thought-provoking.

CBSE Class 12 English Books:

Here are some of the textbooks that are prescribed for the CBSE Class 12 English syllabus:

CBSE Class 12 English Syllabus: (Core English)

The English exams for the 12th grade will be worth an overall of 80 points. While the evaluation of listening and speaking skills consists of project work (10 Marks), speaking skills (5 Marks), and listening (5 Marks), the evaluation of listening and speaking skills consists of 20 Marks. For the benefit of the students, the section-by-section mark distribution for the English Class 12 Syllabus 2023–24 has been listed below.

Prescribed Texts:

  • Vistas: A collection of longer literary works, such as novels and plays.

Internal Assessment:

  • Listening and Speaking Skills: 5 marks
  • Assessment of Reading Skills: 10 marks
  • Assessment of Writing Skills: 15 marks
